We offer gold, silver nickel dyed metal and copper platings standard with our custom enamel lapel pins. For an extra charge, we can antique those standard finishes to give an aged look to your custom lapel pins. Antique finishes also help greatly when your design is mostly metal (die struck) as the darker recessed areas provide a greater contrast for text and fine lines.

We start by making a die with your design in it and we use this die to strike your design in a copper or iron base metal. If called for in your design we hand sandblast the pin to create the textured or “sandblast” background. After this stage enamel pms c colors are applied to the recessed areas based on your design. A syringe filled with enamel paints is used to apply the color to the wells created by the stamping process. Your custom enamel pins are than baked in a 350 degree oven to cure the enamel. A trim tool is than used to carefully cut out the outside shape of your enamel lapel pin. The raised surface of your custom lapel pin is than polished to a mirror like finish. Finally, the attachment of your choice is applied and your pin is inspected for quality and packaged for shipping.

Soft Enamel Pins: When the Details Matter

Soft Enamel Pins are perfect for an array of occasions, from corporate branding and destination souvenirs to employee recognition and years-of-service milestones.

How Are Soft Enamel Pins Made?
Each is produced by imprinting your unique design onto a metal surface. Each individual pin is die struck, leaving recessed areas behind to receive colored enamel. The pin is then kiln-fired at 450 degrees and polished to a shiny luster, resulting in a hard surface. If desired, a special epoxy coating can be added to safeguard your pin’s color from fading or cracking over time.

Elite Lapel Pins Pins enamel pins can be made with antique or high-polished gold, silver, or copper metal. You can choose to leave areas of the metal exposed for a classic, sophisticated look—or saturate your design with vivid colors for a bolder statement.

How Do I Go About Starting The Custom Lapel Pin Design And Ordering Process?

The design and ordering process is relatively simple and it starts with you providing us, via email, your custom lapel pin ideas, reference images, etc. We then take your information that you provided and create a digital mock up (which we call a proof) that we email to you for your review. Along with this proof we will include a price quote. Please note that to create a price quote we require the quantity to be ordered and desired size.

custom lapel pins

Have you thought about creating custom enamel pins? You could do it yourself, assuming you have the skills to draw the art for the pins. Or you can commission someone else to create a pin for you. We have drawing skills in abundance on the Adobe team, but we wanted to learn in-depth about out how an expert pin maker goes about it. What’s the actual process for creating custom enamel pins? How much does it cost? What do they look like when it’s all done?

We sought out a pin maker whose work we admired on Instagram, Elite Lapel Pins. They have there own Etsy store and makes lovely fan art inspired pins, but what really stood out to us is that she creates their art for pins entirely on Their computer. That to us was pretty impressive, which you can read about in our comprehensive post, How to Make Enamel Lapel Pins Step by Step. But we wanted to know more about there process of creating pins for her clients. For this post, we’re reporting back on the details of there conceptual design process — and most importantly, how the pins came out.

The final results
We were very happy with how these pins turned out. If you’ve ever spent time checking out enamel pins on Etsy or Instagram, you know that the quality can be hit or miss. The original art has to be carefully designed so that it will work as a pin. Simone did it all with a great expertise that took into account our logos, but she also added her own particular style.
